LinkedIn for researchers

Shape your profile, share your work

Take your LinkedIn to the next level with our half-day workshop.

With over 1 billion users worldwide, it’s a powerful platform for researchers to share their work, expand their networks, and grow a visible public presence.

But many aren’t sure how to use it effectively. If you’re unsure where to begin or the thought of self-promotion makes you cringe, this workshop is for you.

In this half-day session, we’ll explore how to make LinkedIn work for you, from refining your profile to writing authentic posts that go beyond “I’m excited to share…” and make people want to keep reading.

You’ll leave with more clarity and confidence, equipped with practical tools to start using LinkedIn to raise your profile and grow your network.

LinkedIn is no longer just a digital CV

What you’ll learn

This half-day workshop is a practical, writing-focused session designed to help you show up on LinkedIn with more clarity and confidence.

Learn how to make LinkedIn work for you, from refining your profile to writing authentic posts that go beyond “I’m excited to share,” and truly reflect your voice and work.

1. Why LinkedIn matters for researchers

We’ll explore what LinkedIn offers researchers today. You’ll see how it can support your visibility, help you grow your network, and make your work more accessible.

2. Power up your profile

Your profile is the heart of your LinkedIn presence. You’ll learn to strengthen key elements, including your headline and about section, so they clearly communicate who you are and what you do.

3. Writing posts that people will actually read

You’ll learn what makes LinkedIn posts engaging and effective, with real-world examples, a simple writing template, and time to draft a post of your own.

We’ll also show you how AI can support your writing process without losing your voice.

+ Personal strategy & posting goals

To wrap up, you’ll set simple, realistic goals to inform your strategy for showing up on LinkedIn, whether that means posting more frequently, commenting with intention, or just feeling ready to publish your first post.

Who this workshop is for

This workshop is designed for researchers across various sectors, including academia, consulting, and the private sector.

It’s for you if…

  • You have a LinkedIn profile, but barely use it — or haven’t touched it in months

  • You’ve tried posting, but get stuck, overthink it, feel awkward, or find that your posts fall flat

  • You want to share your work in an authentic way without sounding overly promotional

  • You have ideas for posts about your research, but don’t know how to start (or keep going)

  • You’re ready to raise your visibility on social media

You’ll leave with

  • A better understanding of what makes LinkedIn work and why you should use it

  • A stronger, more purposeful LinkedIn profile

  • A practical post-writing template (tailored for researchers)

  • A first draft of a post you’re ready to share

  • A list of post ideas based on your research and voice

  • Tips to make your writing more engaging, clear, and human

  • Clear goals for showing up on LinkedIn with confidence

This isn’t a crash course in how to become a LinkedIn “influencer.”

It’s a practical, reflective workshop to explore how you want to show up online as a researcher. We’ll explore how posting on LinkedIn can help you share your work beyond your field, connect with collaborators, and grow a presence that supports your career, one post at a time.
