Moving beyond one-off scicomm trainings for impact
When you're in a workshop, it's easy to get fired up about new skills. But what happens after you leave and go back to the daily grind? How much really sticks?
When it comes to science communication, a one-off training can only take you so far. Without follow-up support or desire for change at the institutional level, even the best training struggles to make an impact.
Today, at the PCST 2025 conference in Aberdeen, Scotland, I'll share my recommendations for how institutions can work with external specialists to build, and more importantly, sustain science communication capacity.
The talk is based on my experiences building and running tailored science communication training programmes for universities and global organisations with my top collaborator Dr. Tali Hoffman, director of Honeyguide Science Communication.
